Our Organization
About Us
The Kasese Wildlife Conservation Awareness program benefits both wildlife and humans in the Kasese District of Uganda. Asaba Mukobi, originally from Uganda, started this program due to the lack of information available to local people about wildlife.
Benefiting Both People and Wildlife
Our program benefits both the people and wildlife of Uganda, from our Wildlife Resource Center with free access to the public to planting trees, building fuel-efficient stoves, and helping ex-poachers find alternative livelihoods.
Kasese District
Kasese district was formed in 1974 under the Provincial Administration of Rwenzori district that was curved out of Tooro. Prior to this, it was part of Toro kingdom that comprised the present districts of Bundibugyo, Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge and Kasese.

Sowing the Seeds of Conservation

Introducing Wildlife Conservation Practices through Interactive Video Presentations, Tree Planting, and Wildlife Clubs.
Environmental Preservation and Restoration
Tree planting is a large part of habitat restoration and conservation and KWCAO plants approximately 3,000 to 4,000 trees in the district every year.

Relevant information enables people to create a positive change within their community.
FUEL-EFFICIENT STOVES
To create a greater conservation impact, we expanded our efforts to protect the environment through the promotion of sustainable activities.
ESTABLISHING WILDLIFE CLUBS
We support the community by helping schoolchildren create their own wildlife clubs.
Alternative Livelihoods for Community Members
KWCAO is meeting the community’s growing need for conservation education by reaching out to the adult members of the community.
