August 22nd, 2019: It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that Yusuf Masereka, our KWCAO Program Manager, has passed. Yusuf started with KWCAO 10 years ago as a Field Coordinator. He soon worked his way to the Program Manager position, leading all of the day-to-day conservation activities in Uganda.

Yusuf was a true wildlife champion. He played an integral role in introducing wildlife conservation in rural communities. Through his demonstrated passion and commitment to protecting the environment; he regularly convinced poachers to stop poaching and inspired students to become wildlife protectors. Many of those students went on to join the Uganda Wildlife Research and Training Institute, where Yusuf was a lecturer.

KWCAO is dedicated to carrying on his legacy and dream of protecting wildlife and the environment in Uganda. He leaves behind a wife and four children. If you would like to help support his family, you can send a donation to KWCAO and include his name in the notes. 100% of those donations will be sent to them.
